Michael Dale Kimmel - San Diego Therapist and Author

About Michael Dale Kimmel

I am a California-licensed psychotherapist (LCSW 20738) with a full-time private practice in the Kensington neighborhood of San Diego.

With twenty-plus years of experience, I bring warmth, practical insight and a healthy sense of humor to my work.

I am flexible and creative in addressing a wide range of problems, using a variety of therapeutic techniques and approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, somatic-relational, psychodynamic and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

I enjoy providing psychotherapy now as much as when I was new to the field.  To keep fresh, I limit the hours I practice each week, read widely and regularly attend new workshops/trainings.

I work with individuals, couples and groups in a peaceful private practice office in the beautiful San Diego neighborhood of Kensington. There is plenty of free parking adjacent to the building.

I strongly believe in the importance of – together – building a solid therapeutic alliance based on safety, trust and confidentiality. I work well with motivated individuals and couples who are committed to their growth and development.

I enjoy facilitating workshops throughout United States (for more on that, click on the “Workshops” tab at the top of this page) and I am pleased to write the mental health column “Life Beyond Therapy” for both National and International periodicals.

Relationship Therapy

If you and your partner have drifted apart, are taking each other for granted, or are having the same arguments over-and-over again, relationship therapy can make the difference between giving up and working through your obstacles.

In our work together, I can help you and your partner to deepen your relationship and create a new level of satisfaction and fulfillment.

The intake process for couples work involves a one-hour intake session for each member of the couple. This greatly expedites the effectiveness of the therapy process when all three of us begin the work together.

Bioenergetic  Analysis

Bioenergetic Analysis is a unique and effective psychotherapy that helps resolve emotional issues by engaging the wisdom of the body in a safe and caring relationship with a highly trained therapist.
